Today Ethan is 25! What a wonderful gift he has been. When Ethan was younger, I use to tell him that when I grew up I wanted to be just like him!
He has always forced me to think, when it would have been easier to accept whatever was easiest and the least controversial. Ethan by example, showed me how to be tolerant of others, and to not judge them by the way they looked or dressed. He introduced me to the joy of handing some money to someone who's standing along the road with a sign asking for help.
He has always reminded me to enjoy the simple things. When he was working at a flower nursery, he would call me during lunch just to tell me how blue the sky was. He introduced me to some really good music, like jazz and Motown. Even now, when I am complaining about something, he reminds me that I can walk. Ouch!
Every night I tell him that I love him, and how proud I am of him. Then we go through all the reasons that I am proud of him. He is brave, compassionate, patient, and always grateful for all that people do for him.
Yeah, I still want to be just like him when I grow up.
Happy Birthday Baby Boy!
