"UH-OH"

*****************For some reason this post was published. It was a thought for another day, saved on blogger under drafts. Or at least that's what I thought. I don't know if it was the intermittent wireless internet connection at my parent's house, or just fatigue-induced carelessness.

Accidentally publishing an unfinished, unedited post is definitely humbling. Clicking on my blog this morning and finding it out there, on the world wide web, was definitely humbling, and rather nauseating.

Oh well. I can always use "humbling."

I am constantly reminded that I am not a professional writer. I'm not an English or journalism major. My degree is in special education. I taught 4 year olds for 16 years. The extent of my writing, over those years, was quick-written notes to parents, telling of supplies needed or of an upcoming field trip.

I am always amazed that anyone would read anything that I've written.

Maybe that's why writing brings me so much pleasure.

Maybe that's why I can do it, and why I still want to do it after two and a half years.

Maybe the fact that I am still amazed that anyone would want to read something I've written is the very reason for this blog.

God loves to show His strength in weakness.

"And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
2 Corinthians 12:9

I love the story of Gideon found in
chapters 6-8 of the book of Judges.

When God told Gideon he had a job for him to do, Gideon's response was basically, "
Me? Are you kidding? Do you know who I am? I'm the weakest of some mighty weak people."

I've said the same when God has nudged me to put my experiences or thoughts onto paper or onto a computer screen.

"Me? Do you know my writing ability? Don't you remember that my computer is not my friend? Do I need to remind you I worked with 4 year olds for 16 years?"

Obviously, He doesn't care. It doesn't seem my protesting has made Him change His mind, one iota, about this blogging business.

He still speaks to me in the quiet of the night. He teaches me in the most unexpected and creative ways. God continually calls me into a deeper and deeper relationship with Him.

I am always reminded of what God has done for our family. The gifts, totally undeserved, of blessing after blessing and of miracle after miracle.

God continues to give me the desire and passion to share with anyone who will listen. To share with anyone who will read.

It is His story.

It is His blog.

So, I thank God for the reminder that I am weak, and that He is strong. And I thank Him that He wrapped this reminder in humility.

Like I said before, "I can always use some "humbling."

If you didn't read the
unintended post the first time it was published, here it is again. It's in it's original and unedited state!

The thought is still as sweet as it was when I first jotted it down as a draft.

Our Father.

Jesus' Father.

Your Father. My Father.

Our Father.

***********************************************************************

Two of the most beautiful words in the Bible are probably two that are repeated the most frequently.

Our Father.

Jesus, when He is teaching us to pray, doesn't say just "Father" or "My Father." He says "Our Father."

He includes us.

Jesus is His child and so are we.

We are included in their family.

  3. I've never commented before, but couldn't resist this time. I loved your short, sweet, unintended post. It was a wonderful message - a heavenly "accident," I think! And something I really needed to hear right then. Since I found your blog, I have checked daily to see if there is anything new - I love your writing.

  4. Having found your blog recently, I too have been checking in frequently. But, I one thing that amazing me - is how God speaks - I too joined the blogging world realizing HE was the one giving me the desire. I have struggled with "focus" ~ but HE always gives words. :) Thinking of you and praying your Thanksgiving is special.
